Turbine References in Norway

Voith Hydro has supplied over 40.000 turbines worldwide, corresponding to about one third of the installed global capacity for hydro power. For well over 100 years, Voith has supplied more than 200 turbines to the Norwegian market.

Among turbines installed in Norway some record breaking design milestones include: Tyin hydro power plant in 1942 with the highest head at 970 meters. At Toklev hydro power plant two Voith machines from 1917 have been replaced after 90 years of operation by a new state-of-the-art Francis turbine. Toklev is also the first “Norwegian” Voith Hydro turbine designed by our mechanical engineering team in Oslo.

We have also completed rehabilitation and upgrading projects. New runner for Tistedalsfoss and upgrading of Grønvollfoss are recent references for this type of activity.
